I have had to make some difficult decisions in the past but this month seems to be bringing a bunch my way. The unexpected car problems last week put a very serious crimp in this months cash flow. Since my wife and I only get paid once a month, unexpected expenses like that can cause a lot of stress. And the timing, off course, was terrible. On the 6th, the registration was opened for the Emergent Theological conversation with Miroslav Volf. I have been talking about it ever since it was announced. I think Volf is brilliant and the opportunity to participate in this conversation was a dream come true. My wife knew I really wanted to go so she did some creative money management and I registered for the event before it filled up. So, as excited as I am to be going the rest of this month is going to be a whole lot longer than our cash flow.
And if that were not bad enough, I also have my eye on the rapidly approaching Emergent Gathering in New Mexico. This is close enough for me to drive to. I was going to be going to Montana that week to do some work but I just found out today that the job fell through which leaves me open… Hmmmm. I have a lot of things comming up next month that require me to think very carefully about spending money on this event but I have to admit it is extremely tempting. If there was anyone here in Colorado looking to do some cost sharing to get down there I could be persuaded.
