As you are going…

Sometimes it is hard to blog honestly withour causing unnecessary worry. In my earlier post I was simply trying to reflect some honest thoughts. This does not mean I am in despair. I am just thinking out loud.

One of the things I am thinking about (again) is the differnce between pastoral work and missionary work. I have wrote about this before. Many interpreters have pointed out that the proper way to read the great commission is not “Go make disciples” but “As you are going, make disciples.” I am feeling caught in the tension of this at the moment.

Sometimes I think that pastors and missionaries are working against one another. Reading Donovan has challenged my thinking here in profound ways. I am wondering if anyone else has read his book and wrestled with the implications of his book for “missional” communities. I would love to hear from people who are working on “non-colonial” mission. What does that look like? Anyone?
